Besal˙ is situated in La Garrotxa at the point where two rivers, the FluviÓ and the Capellades, meet.
Besal˙ was the capital of the then independent county up until the death of Bernat III when it fell under the control of the count of Barcelona.


Romanesque town where the historical tradition of the counts es mixed with elements from the lewish community thet live therer during the Middle Ages.

The majestic bridge is a must visit.
Romanesque bridge of the 11th century. Its construction is angular due to the laying of its foundation columns on the river rocks. In the middle ages a fee had to be paid at this point when entering the town. The last restoration took place in 1965.

Monastery of Sant Pere
The only remaining part of this Benedictine monastery, founded in 977, is the Romanesque church of Sant Pere. The most outstanding feature of this church is the nave of the main chapel. Noteworthy sculptural features are the lions on the walls and the interior capitals.
