description

The municipality is at a height of 66 metres on the right bank of the Fluviā river, on the top of a hill which dominates the river on the north side.

The primitive centre is on top of the hill with the remains of the walls that surrounded it. Extra walls were added in the 18th and 19th centuries and a modern quarter was formed.

The Sant Iscle de Bāscara church is a temple with only one nave built mainly during the 18th and 19th centuries, which conserves important remains of the end of the Roman era. On the west side, there are the remains of the old episcopal castle, where the prison tower stands, with its round floor, the oldest remains are from the 14th-15th centuries. The walls formed an enclosure that surrounded the upper plateau of the mountain. It was strategically interesting until the last century: in the extreme northeast there is a round tower from the18th-19th centuries.

The interior nucleus of the enclosure is made up of narrow roads and many houses have beautiful doors and some have decorated windows.
