Going up Castle hill, very close to the Rambla, you will find the Theatre-Museum Dalí, (where the painter?s tomb is), installed in the old Municipal Theatre. In 1974, it was inaugurated as a Theatre-Museum under the direction of Dalí himself. |
It boasts a spectacular and emblematic metallic dome, work of the architect Pérez Piñero, restaurated in 1998. |
The exterior of the buildings joined to the museum are decorated in the "Dalí style" with enormous eggs on the top, the same as the Galatea tower, (the old Gorgot tower of the old city walls), where Salvador Dalí spent the last years of his life. |
It is the most visited museum in Spain, after the Prado in Madrid. |
