The land of Castell d'Aro includes a large area of woods belonging to the Massis de Les Gavarres. The hills and valleys in the North, occupied by holm-oak woods and pine groves, seem willing to make up for the roads and the highly populated area on the coast line.

The centre of the village is very interesting with the Castle (from the Middle Ages but well restored) that gave the name to the village, and next to it the Church of Santa Maria in Gothic style. A walk around these two buildings, along the narrow and steep streets within the centre, let you observe the different houses from the 16th to the 18th centuries with interesting architectural features.

The area of Castell d'Aro seems to make a little mosaic of different pieces. The dense and hectic Platja d'Aro is linked to the centre of Castell d'Aro by its outskirts, and they are both complemented by the mountainous and wooden area of the North. There is a fourth part which is completely different and of great quality to complete the mosaic. It is S'Agaró,a residential area located in the South that seems to contradict the impersonal and dynamic Platja d'Aro.

Between the houses in S'Agaró and the rocks on the coast there is a path called Camí de Ronda that lets you go from the beach of Sant Pol to La Conca, with several points that offer magnificent views over the sea. It is worth going there several times and therefore being able to enjoy its charms at every time of the year.
